Expo 2010
Shanghai, Chinas most important center of industry and commerce, gets prepared for the World Expo 2010, its theme being „Better City – Better Life“. From May 1st until the end of October the city expects some 70 million visitors, thus making this exhibition of industrial products and achievements the largest world fair in history.

Over the past 20 years, China has become a political and economic superpower. During the Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing, China presented itself as a modern country that doesn't have to shy away from any comparisons with industrialized countries of the Western world. But while the major cities are booming, people in the rural parts of China are still very poor. The economy has been growing constantly - but at the same time pollution has reached dramatic levels. Modern China is a country full of contradictions.
